Dear Friends,
I am honored to be able to participate in the Saint Baldricks cure for cancer fundraising event this year.
As some of you may know, I am a Township official in the Township of Worth. (You know I need to stay busy!) Well this year, myself and other trustees have taken the opportunity to raise money for pediatric cancer and we are shaving our heads of the precious hair that we have grown to know.
Now you know shaving my head can be a difficult decision for a guy who takes great pride in my $25 Great Clips haircuts, but this month and probably for the next few months, I won't have to get a haircut… because we are going bald on March 14th!
My 8 year old niece, Elise, was diagnosed with cancer after finding a brain tumor about 2 years ago. She is doing well now, but really has endured a difficult time of procedures, tests and treatments. My sister, Joyce, was recently diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and has equally gone through some very difficult procedures. Two very close to home reasons why I am raising funds to fight cancer. No one fights alone in this family!
Unfortunately, I know each and every one of us has had a family member or close friend who has gone through some sort of cancer scare. It really is mindblowing how many people are affected by the big C word. But this year, I decided to try and help raise funds for a great cause and hopefully reduce the difficult situations people deal with by finding a cure.
I know I ask a lot, but this time I am asking you to donate for a great cause- Kicking Cancers Butt!
Thank you for always being there for our family and for the extra help in taking a step to tackle Cancer!
All the best,
Jerry
Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
