I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Win The Day

Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U. S. will not survive. I’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.

In September 2015, my cousin's now 18-year-old daughter Olivia (aka Liv) was diagnosed with stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma, the third most common cancer found in children and teens. After battling through 43 weeks of chemotherapy and 27 radiation treatments, she is now cancer free!

In July 2019, a colleague’s 14-year old son Charlie was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that occurs in bones or in the soft tissue around the bones. After a year of treatment, Charlie’s scans were cancer free. Unfortunately he relapsed in January 2021 and is currently undergoing chemo and radiation treatment again.

I have been humbled by Liv and Charlie’s bravery, strength and resiliency.  They are inspirations to me, and as a way to show my support, I will be shaving my head at a St. Baldrick’s event on this coming Sunday, April 11th.

The success rate in curing cancer in children has grown from 20% to 80% over the past 50 years, in part because of organizations like the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Please help me support Liv, Charlie and other children by donating to St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Regards,

Pat
