I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'll be Going Bald for Finley on my birthday this year, when I let Finn take clippers to my head! I invite you to [virtually] join in the event, and help me fund the research that will help to save lives like Finley's.

Before March 5th, I'll admit that I didn't think too much about childhood cancer as it was out of sight, and therefore, out of mind. I have since learned that every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and on March 5th Finn became one of the statistics when he was diagnosed with a Stage 4 kidney cancer (Wilm's Tumor). After a long and arduous surgery to remove his kidney and tumor, he continues his fight against cancer through radiation and chemotherapy at University of Michigan's CS Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.

I intend to join Finley in solidarity as chemo takes its toll on his body and causes the inevitable hair loss underway, and show him that Bald is Beautiful:) After all, he's going through enough, so I'm hoping to lessen some of the psychological aspects of what he's going through.

A few questions you might be asking:

Do I think shaving my head in any way compares to what Finley is going through? Not in the least.

Will Finn enjoy taking the clippers to my head and shaving me bald? Highly likely.

Is it advisable to allow a three year old to do the shaving? Questionable...but we're in the midst of Quarantine 2020, so what choice do I have?

Will shaving my head cure cancer? We won't know until we try. In the meantime, I think it may bring some joy to Finley while raising some money for a much needed cause.

Please consider donating to help us fight this disease! I plan on sharing the video of the event, so stay tuned for further updates!
