I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bare and Aware

Who wants to see this woman be bold, Go Gold, and GO BALD?!? Those who know me personally know that part of my life’s mission is to make even one day easier for children with cancer and their families. As a pediatric oncology nurse, I watch families live out their nightmare every time I go to work. I’m a sounding board for exhausted, frustrated parents. I get kicked, hit, and spit at by kids who don’t want their ports accessed or don’t want to take medications. I’ve been pooped on by a 3 year old with terrible diarrhea and thrown up on by a teenager who has received every anti-emetic we have available. I administer toxic medications to help save their lives, all the while knowing the long term effects these drugs carry. I’ve given a child’s first dose of chemo. I’ve given them their last. I’ve cried watching kids ring the bell, even if I didn’t know them. I’ve held parents after their child took his or her last breath. Childhood cancer only receives 4% of government funding for cancer research! Our kids are worth so much more! I have had the honor to care for some really amazing kids and young adults fighting an unfair war. Some were lucky enough to win that war here on earth, while way too many won their ticket to Heaven way too early. My life has forever been touched by the strength and resilience these little humans show. So please support me as I shave this awkward shaped head bald with St. Baldrick’s to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U. S. will not survive. More money for research means better treatment options for our kids! Hopefully drugs with less side effects, especially long term side effects! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let's #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
