I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Doing it for Abe

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Doing it for Abe

My nephew Abe (Abraham Guzman) was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma the first week of January 2020, a few days after his 14th birthday. He was taken to Immediate Care on the 3rd of January because he had been complaining of excruciating pain in his hip and he was limping. We thought he was going to get x-rays and we would come out with him having a pulled muscle or a strain. Then the doctor gave us the worst news we could possibly hear, he had severe bone loss on the lower part of his right hip and there was a lesion coming from the bone. He was transported by ambulance to the University of Chicago Children’s Hospital and was admitted for 5 days. During this period he had CT Scans, MRI’s, blood work, a biopsy, and later a PET Scan. We learned that his lungs and his heart are clear, the size of his tumor, his blood work came back good, and the sarcoma is localized (it has spread only to a nearby lymph node). He has a long road ahead, a tough fight but I truly believe that he can overcome this. So I am shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U. S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so I’ve decided to raise funds for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids. Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let's #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
