I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

Among our tight knit, South Side Chicago community,  I, along with my family have been saddened by the rate of cancer incidence and cancer deaths among children in our area.  The heartbreak that these families have experienced, coupled with the knowledge that childhood cancer research is significantly underfunded (when compared with adult cancer research), has impelled me and my family to actively support the St. Baldrick mission of raising money for childhood cancer research.

For the last 5-6 years, our family has actively worked to support the mission of St. Baldricks.  I have served as Treasurer for our local elementary school event since 2014.  My son Anthony, shaved his head and raised donations for 3 years while a student at NW and my daughter Charlotte has both donated her hair twice for wigs for children who are impacted by cancer and performed at our Northwest Elementary event since 2014.  Since 2012, our family has donated to St. Baldrick shavees raising funds for this vitally important cause.

This year marks our family's last year of involvement with the Northwest  Elementary event and I'm sharing this message in an effort to raise donations for this admirable organization.  Please consider donating - either to Northwest's event or another St. Baldrick's event at a locale meaningful to you.

Thank you for considering my request.  Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. I am proud to devote my efforts to such a worthwhile organization.
