I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hi Everyone,

It has been one year since all of you helped me raise over $5,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation (an organization that helps kids with cancer). It still makes me so happy that we were able to make a difference for many sick kids.

The Skokie School Baldies fundraising event is taking place on Monday, March 11, 2019.

I’m WAY behind on sending out this email because 7th graders have A LOT of homework and …I have also been spending a lot of my time recently at Lurie Children’s Hospital. It has been 5-years since my brain tumor was removed and I had to have lots of tests and doctor appointments at the hospital. Last week, my neurologist called and said my MRI “looks great!” My family and I were so excited about this news, as “MRI time” with me is always a really scary time around here. While I know I remain “tumor-free” right now, I know many kids are not as lucky as me.

Last year when I raised the money, I knew it would go to help sick kids, but I don’t think I understood how important it really was. Being a year older and spending time at Lurie Hospital this year made me realize how important it was for me to continue to raise money for kids that really need it. I saw many less fortunate kids who are still sick even after some treatment. I want to do everything I can to help them!

I hope you will donate to my page for St. Baldrick’s this year and then we can all help find cures for sick kids.

Thank you,

Teddy Schumacher
