Dear Family & Friends,
I cannot believe that I have raised so much money for St. Baldrick's to help the cancer scientists. I really thought maybe I would raise twenty or twenty-five dollars. But, I raised hundreds! Thank you very much for giving your money. I feel really good about being bald and about raising this money. I hope you feel good about giving money to help the scientists. Thank you, your friend, Jack
Dear Friends & Family,
Jim and I are astounded by your generosity and thank you for helping Jack to feel successful in his campaign to help the scientists. He has gotten a real charge out of seeing the amount of money he has raised. Because it is a large number he is certain his efforts to shave his head have made a difference for the search for a cure for childhood cancer. Your donation has uplifted him and helped move science forward. Together we can each add to the ripples in the water that one day will generate a significant change in this fight. We sincerely thank you, Jim & Maureen
Hello Family & Friends,
Please donate money to St. Baldrick's. I will be happy if you do. This money helps children get their hair back. Really it helps doctors and scientists to find the real thing to cure cancer so that kids with cancer won't lose their hair. I am shaving my head to raise money and for fun. It makes me feel happy to be bald because it is fun and I am helping to raise money. Thank you very much, I really appreciate it. Jack. P.S. Look for my school's St. Baldrick's Event on Fox News at Noon this Friday, March 16th. Last year I was on TV while getting shaved bald!
You can donate to my cause on the stbaldricks.org website or with a check payable to St. Baldrick's. This is tax deductible. My mom checked them out with the BBB and CharityNavigator. The BBB says that St. Baldricks meets all 20 standards they have for Charity accountability and the charitynavigator indicated the same, giving them a perfect score of 70/70 for accountability and transparency.
St. Baldricks is a volunteer-driven charity that gives more money to childhood cancer research than any organization, except the US government. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation held its second Research Priorities Summit in New York, the weekend of January 7-8, 2012. Nineteen distinguished childhood cancer research experts attended, volunteering their time and expertise to advise the Foundation’s board and grants staff on funding priorities. The Summit was co-moderated by two nationally recognized leaders in pediatric oncology, William Carroll, M.D. of New York University and Holcombe Grier, M.D. of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Summit began with a quick summary of the grants made by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation from its 2005 inception to the present, totaling more than $78 million, and the outcomes of that funding. The experts were unanimous in recognizing the huge impact of St. Baldrick’s grants, to date. They encouraged the Foundation and its constituents to take more credit for making a difference, as the largest private funder of children's cancer research grants. They also offered recommendations on new metrics to measure success.
More information about this summitt can be found on the St. Baldrick's website.
Thanks again! Jack
