I'M SHAVING MY HEAD......AGAIN!
Last year I volunteered with Georgetown's School of Medicine to fundraise for the St.Baldrick's pediatric cancer research fund and shaved my head to stand in solidarity with the many individuals that lose their hair to cancer treatment. Unfortunately for some them, their hair won't grow back as mine did.
That's why this year I promise to help fundraise and stand in solidarity with the millions of individuals battling cancer and chemotherapy.
In particular, we are bringing light to the dearth of pediatric cancer research.
As many of you know, not all cancers are created equal. Treatments for cancer are not only dependent on the types of cancer, but also on the age of those affected with cancers. Unfortunately, children who are plagued with cancer are affected by cancer treatment the most. The medications, although some have proved life-saving, can be toxic and affect child development later in life. Children survivors are SEVEN times more likely to die from heart complications post-treatment than non-cancer afflicted children. We must continue in our efforts to fund and discover more effective cancer treatments!
This year I have made the personal goal of fundraising just $3,000 in hopes for better, safer, and MORE research for pediatric cancer, and I need your help! Any and all donations and shares are beyond appreciated!
