I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Shelomzion and Eliana

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Shelomzion and Eliana

Hi!! My name is Eliana!
In September I am shaving my head for childhood cancer!
I first thought of this idea a few years ago. It was something I in theory wanted to do, but didn't think I ever would be able to. I mean it seemed kinda crazy!! Thinking about it then, I was scared about what people would think, everyday things like walking down the street, going to school seemed like they would be different. Plus, I liked my hair and never thought I would actually be willing to shave it.
This year I was thinking a lot more seriously about. It didn't seem quite as daunting. Maybe it was because I had become more confident or maybe its just that I had more time to think, but I started to be able to imagine myself actually dong it!!
I found this organization called St. Baldricks! St. Baldricks is an amazing organization that is devoted to raising money for childhood cancer research! People create head shaving events, and Shavees (Thats MEEE!!!!) sign up and get sponsors and ultimately shave their heads at these events!!
I was talking about it in school one day when my friend Shelomzion said she had also been thinking the same thing for a while and had actually been looking into the same organization!!!!!!!
We talked about it a lot!!!!
We talked through so many upsides, some downsides of maybe feeling uncomfortable at times, and a lot about the amazing cause. The more we talked about it the more excited I became!! We finally decided this was really something we wanted to do!!!!!!
If I have talked to you recently, it is likely we have talked about this subject!
If you can't tell I am very excited and passionate about it!!!!
I've also gotten may questions about it.
"Why don't you just donate your hair?" "Why don't you just fundraise?"
I think raising money by shaving my head has a bigger effect than both of these. If one were to raise money by running a race, for example, it's amazing!! They work really hard in training, fundraising, and anticipating!! (btw i really want to do this one day!!) but after the race is over, everything goes back to normal. When you see someone who ran a race last week, one can't tell "oh that person definitely just ran a marathon!!"
But when you shave your head in fundraising, days later you can tell. It gives me the opportunity to tell people, educate people, and raise awareness too. About the lack of funding for childhood cancers, and the fact that they can't be treated the same way as adult cancers. By shaving my head I will be raising money and awareness for childhood cancer research.
By sponsoring me, you will be helping kids with cancer find better treatment options.
Every single dollar helps! !
Thank you so so much!!!!
-Eliana
p.s-if you want to talk to me about this, I LOVE talking about it so feel free!!!
