I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

On September 5th, I'm graduating from Northwestern with a MS in Health Communication. To mark the occasion, I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. --- I went to grad school for a lot of reasons, but two of those reasons are Cathi Thomson and Sammy Sommer. Cathi and Sammy both died of childhood cancers, but over 30 years apart.

Part of my motivation to get a Master's in Health Communication was to be part of a future where we eradicate childhood cancer. And if we can't bring an end to pediatric cancer, a future with additional research into treatment options.

Since it seems unlikely that my degree will immediately change the world, I am going shave my head and raise money for an organization that is making a difference already in the world of pediatric cancer.

Graduation: September 5, 2015

Shave: 7PM on October 3, 2015 at Emanuel Congregation following Havdalah in the Sukkah with TBD Minyan

Thank you to Team 36 Rabbis for letting a non-rabbi join as you raise another $1MM.
