You heard it right - I'm shaving my head FOR THE SECOND TIME in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!
As a teacher, I have taught two of the children being honored at this event, Keegan McCarthy and Katie Lynch. They, and all of these children, are incredibly brave and have shown amazing strength. They are my inspiration in participating in this event.
My 2 year old daughter, Colleen is the other reason that I am involved. She does not have cancer, but she has an immunological deficiency which puts her at a higher risk for autoimmune diseases and blood/lymphatic cancers. I will do anything that I can to protect my children, and ALL children. I have faith that somewhere down the road there will be a cure for cancer, and I am proud to be a part of this fundraiser.
In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research, so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.
