My Story

Katie was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on September 23rd 2008. After a slight cough that persisted for a few weeks, a chest x-ray revealed a large mass in Katie's left chest. She immediately began treatment at Riley hospital. After 5 months of chemotherapy treatment Katie will now begin radiation. Katie was an outgoing and fun loving person. She was very involved in school sports, music, and community activities. Through this time she continued to be the most upbeat of the family. Her positive attitude and friendship was been an inspiration to several other younger Riley cancer patients. When she was inpatient for treatment, she found new friends to help brighten their day. During treatment Katie continued with school and sports as much as she could. She was a great example of not letting a disease take over your life.
