I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Thank you for checking out my St. Baldrick's Day webpage! On March 23rd I will celebrate St. Patrick's Day by going bald, having my head shaven at Finn McCool's Irish Pub in solidarity with the brave children who battle cancer every day, and to raise money for childhood cancer research so no child has to fight it again. I hope you'll support me with a donation, by spreading the word, or just by coming by Finn's to show your encouragement.
Cancer has affected my life in many ways. Both of my parents, all four grandparents, my aunt, and my wife's stepmother have all fought cancer at various times. My mother has also worked tirelessly to treat childhood cancer as a pediatric oncologist for many years. When I was younger I would sometimes meet my mom's patients, and they always amazed me with their optimism, courage, and strength. Today these little patients still inspire me, and I'm honored to contribute in a small way to their cause.
This year, I have decided to fundraise in honor of Lucille Boudreaux of New Orleans LA, a courageous 2 year old who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). I don't know Lucy, but I learned about her last September when Finn McCool's hosted an emergency blood drive to support her with replacement donations to offset the blood transfusions she needed (and still needs). If you click the link below, you can see a photo of Lucy and read her story. You can also use the links on this page to make a donation or see my before and, soon, my after pictures.
By popular demand, the "what should Will do with the beard?" contest is back again. Last year, to Ashley's horror, I modeled the very stylish a la souvarov beard (see pics), but this year all options are again wide open. Will it be the soul patch, the Fu Manchu, or something else? I've let my hair and beard grow a bit just to open up the possibilities and make the shave more fun. I've been informed that donors no longer have the option to leave a message with their contribution, so send me an email with your vote. I also added a handy menu of facial hair styles to the photo gallery for your inspiration (thanks to Jessie!).
Thank you very much for your support. Together we can help find a cure for this disease. I hope to see all of you at Finn McCool's on the 23rd! Sincerely,
Will
