Thank you for checking out my St. Baldrick's Day webpage! On March 24th I will celebrate St. Patrick's Day by having my head shaven at Finn McCool's Irish Pub in solidarity with the brave children who battle this disease, and to raise money for childhood cancer research so no child has to fight it again. I hope you'll support me with a donation, by spreading the word, or just by coming by Finn's to show your encouragement.
Cancer has affected my life in many ways. Two years ago, my grandmother passed away after her long and courageous battle with Merkle cell carcinoma, and my mother, father, and my wife's stepmother are all cancer survivors. My mother has also worked tirelessly to treat childhood cancer as a pediatric oncologist for many years. When I was younger I would sometimes meet my mom's patients, and they always amazed me with their optimism, courage, and strength. Today these little patients still inspire me, and I'm honored to contribute in a small way to their cause.
This year, I have decided to fundraise in honor of Benny Cousins of New Orleans, LA, an energetic 3 year old who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). I don't know Benny, but I read his story on the St. Baldrick's Day website and was inspired by his story of survival. You can read the story too by clicking the link on the side of this page. You can also use the links to make a donation or see my before and, soon, my after pictures.
By popular demand, the "what should Will do with the beard?" contest is back again. Last year, the goatee won out, but this year all options are again wide open. Will it be the soul patch, the Fu Manchu, or something else? I've been informed that donors no longer have the option to leave a message with their contribution, so send me an email with your vote. I added a handy menu of facial hair styles to the photo gallery for your inspiration (thanks to Jessie!).
Thank you very much for your support. Together we can help find a cure for this disease. I hope to see all of you at Finn McCool's on the 24th! Sincerely,
Will
