I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Madison

Here is Madison's story. She loves to dance, loves school, loves to sing, all things girly, but can get down in the dirt and show her tomboy side. On Tuesday, August 19th 2014 is when our world got turned upside down. She went in for an ultra sound morning of the 19th because she was having some pain in her right rib area, and we were told we wouldn't hear for a few days. We heard an hour after the ultra sound that we needed to get a cat scan and children's hospital was waiting for us because of a mass they found on her right kidney. Loaded with information that we really hadn't even started to try and understand, we were numb. We scheduled the surgery and got more information and went home. a few days felt like years. waiting for that dreaded surgery day. We had a 10 am appointment, 1pm surgery time. From 1-8 we waited and waited getting an hourly update on how things were going. They took out her whole right kidney and put in a port on her left side. Madison was diagnosed as Stage two cancer. 6 months of Chemo would be starting soon. . Every Friday we were getting treatment. We made many friends/family at Children’s in our time there. This staff is seriously amazing! Madison lost her hair, had difficult weekends, spent nights in the hospital and got poked so many times for blood and treatment. She went through all this with her beautiful smile on her face. She is our Hero and are so proud as to how strong and amazing she is. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
