I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raising money with St. Baldrick's to help kids with cancer! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. I refuse to accept this reality, so I’ve decided to fundraiser for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.

I decided to take part and organize this St. Baldrick's event after going through my own cancer experience.  Approximately 9 years ago I was going through chemo/radiation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on the pediatric floor of the hospital.  Watching those incredible resilient children go through their own treatments each day was inspiring.  To see them everyday, smiling, dancing, and trying to enjoy each moment of life was heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time.  Here I sat there, this 33 year old man, not as tough as any of these children.  After 3 months I completed my treatment, but most of those children had a long fight still ahead.  It was then I knew I needed to do my part.

Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.

Thank you for your Support,

Shawn Owenburg
