Another year (this makes 6 in total) and another request for a donation. Every year, 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. And in the U.S., more children die of cancer than from any other disease. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation works hard to fund research that will make the biggest impact for kids with cancer, because childhood cancer research saves lives.
Your donations go a long way for helping, 73% of your money goes towards research, 24% goes towards fundraising and only 3% goes to administrative costs. The event this year will be on the 15th of March and will be at the new Cancer Survivors Park in Greenville. This last year St. Baldrick’s with the help of your donations funded 3 research grants in the Upstate; your money helping local children!
I’ve set a goal of $2,000 after getting $1,800 last year. I am also reinstituting my special over achiever goal. If anyone donates $100 I will let you decorate my head for a day and I will take you to lunch, so you can be seen with me in public (that’s worth a $100 by itself).
If you haven’t heard of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation https://www.stbaldricks.org/, they’re known for exciting head-shaving events. It’s a whole lot of fun, but the real goal is to raise money for research that helps save lives. As a Shavee, I’ll stand in solidarity with kids who typically lose their hair while being treated for cancer; my hair on the floor means less hair loss on a child’s hospital pillowcase.
Please check out my personal fundraising page at https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/ScottBenson2020 to make a donation, see my progress, as well as my before and after pictures. You can give online or by phone (888.899.BALD). Credit cards are the most efficient way to give, or you can write a check payable to “St. Baldrick’s Foundation”.
Thank you so much for your support! I will think of you proudly as I shave to Conquer Childhood Cancers.
