I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Tori

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Tori

In this, my seventh year of shaving my head with St. Baldrick's, I have been recognized as a Knight of The Bald Table! I am honoured! With the generous support of my family and friends, together we have directly raised over $4,500, and I hope you will join me in my efforts again this year.

In addition to the $800 we raised last year, I helped organize the BUZZ-N-SUDS Event at The Garage Bar and Sandwiches, where we raised more than $4,200, and had a fun time doing it! Our friends from Pollyanna Brewing Company also helped make the event a success by donating flavorful craft beer, which we were able to tap and sell with all profits going towards our event.

So this year we are headed back to The Garage, and Pollyanna will again donate their Dr Pangloss Black IPA. AND not only are we going bald, we are going BIG! with the addition of TEAM TORI.

Tori, was a local hero in the fight against childhood cancers. In her Junior year at Resurrection College Prep High School, Tori was diagnosed with a childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. While undergoing treatment, Tori never missed a day of school, and was a member of the Res Bowling Team (Go Bandits!), making it to the State Championships in her Senior year. She was a great friend to many, not the least of which were her two sisters, and her dog Bailey. Never asking for help and always giving to others, Tori was very private about her cancer, not wanting others to know about it.

Tori, passed away earlier this year, just shy of her 20th birthday, and the first thing her sisters said to her family and friends who had been secretly shaving their heads with St. Baldrick's in her honor, was "Now everyone can know we are doing this for Tori!" and TEAM TORI was born.

I am honored to join the other 60 members of TEAM TORI to ensure our St. Baldrick's Event will be AMAZING! Not only will we raise more money than ever before, have more shavees than ever before, we will have more FUN than ever before, and I hope you will join us on April 9, 2016 from 1:00-6:00 PM. We will have a great time, while doing good for those families still struggling with the battle against childhood cancers.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? EVERY DOLLAR makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

Thank you! Russ
