Every day I work I am answering the call of the public, rushing to their aid in times of need. Doing everything in my power to make the nightmare go away. This passion to help doesn't end when I take off my fire helmet and leave for home. I work to better my self professionally, check on those I have helped and help where I can in the community I live.
But now I have answered a different call, the call to help children with cancer. In October 2012 I, along with some of my coworkers, took on a pact to not cut our hair or shave our facial hair, that doesn't impair our abilities to do our job. Allowing my hair to become much longer than it has ever been. Then I'm having my head and face shaved at a St. Baldrick's event to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please help me fight childhood cancer with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
Many of you have made me painfully aware of how awful my facial hair is, help the facial go away by donating to the cause that spurred its growth, support me in this fight. And when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone, mail or in person to me. Or you can become a shavee yourself and join me in this effort to end childhood cancer. Thank you!
