Hi friends! On April 6th, I will be shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Truthfully, the thought of shaving my head terrifies me. For those who know me well, you know that my hair is pretty important to me; some may even say my hair is my most defining feature! Nevertheless, helping support the fight against childhood cancer is, undoubtedly, worth the shave.
I am shaving my head for a couple of reasons:
1. Appreciating good health should be a daily occurrence; however, it has taken me so long to realize it. Good health, among the other countless blessings in my life, is something that I oftentimes take for granted; I struggle to realize how lucky I am to live that life that I do. In college, it's so easy to get caught up in the stress of daily life that I often forget to thank God for everything that I have. I want to wake up each morning with a grateful heart. I am shaving my head to practice gratitude.
2. So many children are unable to experience growing up and enjoying a childhood free from life-threatening obstacles like most of us. Childhood cancer is different from adult cancers and is extremely underfunded. Cancer is one of the most terribly isolating, horrible, and painful experiences a person and their loved ones can go through, and I want to do anything I can to increase knowledge, hope, and charity for the fight against cancer. I am shaving my head for a cancer-free tomorrow.
Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers, so please consider making a donation- it’s a great cause!
Thank you!
