I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I am super excited to be joining the 46 Momma's Shave for the Brave event for St Baldrick's for the second year. I have joined these wonderful Mommas to stand in unity with all of these children and families that are diagnosed and fight this battle. I am one of the lucky Momma's if any of us can be called lucky. My son Conlan, now 7 1/2 years old, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 27 months old. He fought a long hard 2 year battle of brain surgery, chemotherapy, and much more which you can learn about on his hero page. Why do I say I'm one of the 'lucky' ones...because my son is still here with me, I can still hug him, I can still kiss him, I can still watch him grow.. which I can not say for some of these innocent children and parents who have had to fight this horrible battle. Some of these parents have had to say goodbye to their children. Watch their nightmare become reality right before their eyes. These children have had to fight like Conlan and harder and lost the battle. How is this fair for these Children, these families? But yet I can not say Conlan's life is perfect...He does have issues that he/we have to deal with on a daily basis he has side effects from his two years of chemotherapy treatment. He still has a tumor in his head that could begin to grow at any time~we live in fear of that daily. He is at an increased (50%) risk because of his chemotherapy treatment of developing a secondary childhood cancer...how ironic is that?? Childhood Cancer Research is important!! They need better treatments, they need a CURE!! This can't be done without your help! Before my son was diagnosed I was extremely naive to the reality of Childhood Cancer and how much help these Children and families need your help. You may find that my message is harsh, but it unfortunately is reality. These children and families that are fighting~ will be fighting~have fought all need your help only we can make the difference to stop this!! ** I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
