I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: EverMae

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! It’s something I’ve contemplated for a few years, and have been inspired to do by many.  However, it was my 7th grade students at Rutland Grade School in Ottawa, IL, who pushed me off the fence to finally say YES!

As I read to my class a novel (Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick) about a junior high boy whose younger brother was diagnosed with leukemia, my students openly shared their caring and compassionate hearts.  They were genuinely moved, not only by the younger brother’s struggle with cancer, but also by the challenges his whole family faced as a result.  I knew their sweet responses demanded a reinforcing action, so I decided THIS was the year I would shave my head!  My amazing students and school have pledged their emotional support and fundraising assistance.  I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together to help create a better future for children with cancer and their families!

Now I need YOUR help!

Will you make a donation?

Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

Please help my students understand that we CAN and SHOULD use what we have to make a positive difference in the world, especially about the issues that touch us personally!
