I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with:
Porter Power
My daughter Jen, and granddaughter Sadie and I answered the call to become humble heros. We are shaving are heads at the Emmaus Shave for the Brave on March 22, 2013. We are trying to help raise awareness to childhood cancer. My Grandson Porter was diagnosed in October 2011 with Leukemia (ALL). His first year was a long battle with him in the hospital more than at home. He was a baldy for a along time! It starting to grow back in August. He is losing his hair again and he is not happy about it! We learned a lot in this time also. We learned that every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide - 1 in 5 children diagnosed in the United States will not survive. (We met some special children this past year who are now Angels). Of those who do survive 2 out of 3 will suffer from long term effects from the treatment. Funding for childhood cancer is 4%. Since 2005 St. Baldrick's has raised over $103 million for research grants. This has become very personal to me. I want to make sure Porter grows into a fine young man who can say "I had cancer, I fought and I am a survivor"!
Please support us with a donation. Can you imagine a world with healthy children without cancer? I can!
