With the support of my colleague and friend Peter Gallanis, I am doing my show “HeartSongs” on July 19, after the first day of the NOLHGA Legal Seminar in NYC. 

Profits will go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a volunteer-driven initiative created by insurance professionals to support the most promising research in pediatric cancer. St. Baldrick’s funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.   300,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year. One of those was my friend Chuck's son Joey. In the U.S., one in five will not survive, but Joey did. Chuck and his entire family are committed to improving the survival rate and their continued work toward this goal has always been a source of admiration to me. Enlisting the help of the guaranty fund community and those that serve it is important to me;  our mission is to protect people, giving hope. Giving kids a fighting chance--the hope-- to beat cancer is right where we live. "HeartSongs" is about HOPE. Hope in times that may feel uncertain. Could there ever be a time more uncertain for a family than when their child is diagnosed with cancer? Doubtful.  I watched my mother die from cancer when I was 13. That was agonizing and frightening, and I can't fathom what it would feel like to have a son, daughter or grandchild in such jeopardy.
