Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

We helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: MDU Resources - Bald as a Light Bulb at Brave the Shave – Bismarck

Knife River Corporation- North Central Employees are joining the fight against childhood cancer with St. Baldrick’s and the MDU Resources Group "MDUR Bald as a Light Bulb" team. This will be the sixth year MDU Resources employees have supported the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and the first year for KRC-NC. The annual event is held nationwide. In exchange for donations, volunteers shave their heads or donate at least 10 inches of hair to the Locks of Love program or 8 inches of hair to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. Volunteer haircuts also are a way for event participants to stand in solidarity with children diagnosed with cancer, who often lose their hair during treatment. According to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s website, “175,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year worldwide. And in the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease — more than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies and diabetes combined.”
