WHY WE DO IT
Did you know that 300,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year? And in the U.S., one in five will not survive.
We want to change that, so we're raising money to find cures.
Please support us with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
So when we ask for your support, we're really asking you to support these kids.
OUR STORY
We are Aidan Neenan and Aiden McLean. We were introduced to this idea by our 6th Grade English teacher. She told us about a "Passion Project" or "Genius Hour" where students think about their passion and work together with small groups to achieve educating others to about the awareness of their passion.
We immediately decided that we wanted to work together to educate people about how to live a healthy lifestyle. Our original plan was to start an after-school club to teach others about our passion and work with the Saint Baldricks foundation to raise money for a cure for childhood cancer.
We met with the principal of our school and he came up with the idea to hold an event through St Baldricks that involves a healthy lifestyle. So we discussed it as together, and we decided we wanted to hold a kickball game near the end of the school year.
We contacted the Saint Baldrick's foundation about our idea. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. They helped us set up a website and sent us free merchandise (Yes, FREE merchandise) and encouraged our idea to hold the event.
Finally, we'd like to thank a few people who really helped us along our way to achieve our goal. One is Ms. McLane, our English teacher. This whole plan would certainly not be possible without her. Next is Mr. Williams, our school principal. We met with him several times out of his extremely busy schedule to talk about our idea and how to make it work. Third is Mr. Donahue, our school athletic director. He helped us schedule a time and place to hold our event. And last, but certainly not least, Cindy Bray. She is the one we contacted at Saint Baldrick's. She was a huge help and made it all possible.
Thanks, Aiden and Aidan
