Event Details

Camp Lejeune, let’s go bald for children’s cancer!

In 2014, I shaved my head and raised $3,245 for childhood cancer research in honor of my 8-year old student. She’s now 19 and thriving. Since then, I’ve supported St. Baldrick’s events across several duty stations. When I realized there wasn’t an event where I live, here at Camp Lejeune, I knew I had to change that.

This year, I’m finally hosting one, and we are doing it for a truly special reason.

Now, we are rallying around Lola, a brave 7-year-old in our community who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia this past May. This event is for her. We want to ease her transition through hair loss and show her she is not alone. It will also raise critical funds for childhood cancer research.

How you can help:

  • Sign up to participate as a "shavee": fundraise until our event, then come have your head shaved at the event

  • Sign up as a "trimee": fundraise, then donate a ponytail-length of hair (we can recommend organizations that even accept color-treated hair)

  • Sign up as a participant who will fundraise in another way if hair isn't your thing

  • Can’t attend? A generous donation still makes a big impact

Next year, I plan to organize a larger, public event with more time to prepare. But this year is different. This year is personal. We are moving quickly for Lola.

Join us for a fun and meaningful evening and be a hero for kids with cancer.

This event is part of the 25th year of St. Baldrick’s volunteers coming together to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. Every dollar raised and every head shaved brings hope to thousands of kids facing cancer, from babies to teens.

By supporting St. Baldrick’s, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, you are helping to speed the search for cures.

Let’s come together for Lola, for every child in treatment, and for a future with more survivors and better outcomes.

This event is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Armed Forces or Camp Lejeune military base.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
