St. Mark Shave Your Mane

The St. Mark "Shave Your Mane" St. Baldricks head-shaving event is back at it for our 5th year!  Having raised over $200,000 for our first four years we are excited to cross the quarter of a million dollar mark this year!
JOIN US! As a shavee, barber (WE NEED YOU!), a volunteer preparing for the event as well as the day of the event, and, very important, as a donor.  Be a hero for kids with cancer! Our first event in March of 2014 came to be to honor both my nephew Gavin Cole who passed away from a rare form of brain cancer called AT/RT at 17 months old and Michael Orbany who was with us on earth for our 2014 event but became an angel May 1, 2014 after his cancer came back a second time.  My co-chair also knows very well the feelings all families whose child has been diagnosed feel as her own daughter is a cancer warrior.  It became too obvious that such young children being diagnosed with cancer didn't have the fighting chance as an adult simply because funds are not available to provide the research needed for pediatric cancers.  Who knew?  Well, now our event and so many others like ours vow to never let that happen again.  We raise funds and awareness to change outcomes for all kids cancers.  We stand with them as shavees showing them we are here for them and the money we raise goes towards the research they need.

Our 5-year journey has allowed us to meet many local children each year and their families who continue to battle a form of pediatric cancer.  We are here for them as well as those families who have yet to hear their devasting news, "your child has cancer".  The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers!
