Event Details

How much would it take for you, your friend, or your teacher to shave their head? What if all the money you raised went to benefit childhood cancer research? Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Loyola University Chicago, and the Student Activity Fund will be sponsoring the 4th Annual St. Baldrick's Day on Tuesday, March 31st from 5:00PM - 10:00PM in CFSU on the main lobby floor. There will be head shaving, music from the Accafellas, food, and even a performance by Jim Wand, the world renowned Hypnotist, this year for entertainment! Dr. Wand has worked with such personalities as Sinbad, Chris Rock, Carrot Top,George Strait and The Judds - just to mention a few. Fox TV flew Dr. Jim Wand to Hollywood to appear on a National TV special and NBC has contacted him about being included on a new project they are working on. Dr. Jim Wand also appeared on The Discovery Channel. Dr. Jim Wand has gratiously decided to be a part of St. Baldrick's Day 2009 and more information can be found on Dr. Wand at http://www.hypnotism.com. His "Beyond Imagination" Show beings at 8:30PM and is FREE TO EVERYONE! Last year Loyola raised close to $13,000 and with your help, we can raise even more this year! The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research. The mission of the St. Baldrick's Foundation is to raise awareness and funds to Conquer Kids' Cancer by shaving heads on St. Baldrick's Day. Hair loss is a common part of the chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients and this event allows people to show support to those in need. In order to raise money, participants seek donations from friends and family and then get their head shaved at the event. You can easily donate online, or in person at the event! If anyone of the members of your organization or yourself would like to participate at the event, possibly even get your head shaved, you can sign up at http://www.stbaldricks.org/ You can click on locations and click on USA, IL, Loyola University Chicago. We already have a Sigma Alpha Epsilon team set up so you can join with us or create a team for your own organization! They make it very simple to create your own team and donations can be excepted right online through email! If you can not participate but would still like to donate to one of our teams, go to http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/event_info.php?EventKey=2009-1024# If you have any questions check out the website or feel free to email me at tconlan@luc.edu There will be prizes for the participants and group that raises the most money this year!
