March 16, 1995 was just another nice, spring day in Southern California, where blooming flowers and chirping birds were seen everywhere. It was a typical day for most but, for those who loved Vicki Parker, it was the end of a most beautiful relationship. If it wasn’t for a malignant melanoma, caught far too late, she’d be taking her grandkids on amazing adventures, shining rays of light on her children, and volunteering for her favorite charities with her best friends.
A long, but quick 15 years later, finds her son and grandson recognizing her life by participating at our St. Baldrick’s event. Shaving their heads is merely the act, but helping fund necessary research to help prevent our friends, siblings and parents from battling cancer is our quest.
So, to mark the 15th anniversary of her passing, Cade and I invite our family and friends to contribute one dollar for every year since her untimely passing. Please consider making a small, yet powerful, donation of $15. We’ll be sure to laugh and cry and share stories about mom…and raise a toast to your support of the most amazingly beautiful best friend and guardian angel.
In case you were wondering about our team name, No Hair For Aunt Claire, we were looking for a fun way to recognize the struggle sister and aunt Claire had to endure when she was diagnosed and treated for skin cancer. Had Claire not diagnose the cancer at the tender age of 17 (the doctor initially dismissed it), she would not have turned into the beautiful bride and teacher, who is now expecting a child of her own.
