Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

National Partner

Team Group Finance - Gen Re

St. Baldrick's is a head-shaving event to raise money for childhood cancer research. Each "shavee" collects donations from friends and families to support the cause. They attend an event in their area, where they are shorn along with other shavees. Children in treatment typically lose their hair. This physical change sets them apart and makes them physically different from the rest of the world. Through the St. Baldrick's event, businessmen, businesswomen, moms, dads, friends and others now shave their heads to show the world they support children with cancer and that it is okay to look different. The funds collected support the Children's Oncology Group - the world's foremost network of childhood cancer researchers. Did you know that: · Cancer kills more children ages 1-20 than any other disease · Every year, over 12,500 U.S. children are diagnosed with cancer - that's two classrooms of students every day · Over the last twenty-five years, the incidence of childhood cancer has increased every year · Years ago, childhood cancer was almost always fatal. Today, through the advancements in diagnosis and treatment, 80 percent of the children with cancer can now be cured · Despite this remarkable progress in research and treatment, cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease in children Please help us in this fight by joining us as a shavee or donating! Thanks!
