Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

  • David Lauer photo

Emily Kay Lauer was a vivacious, intelligent young woman who died from the metastastic effects of ovarian cancer at the age of 24 on March 10, 2003. Our Kenosha event in 2007 was on the 4th anniversary of her death, and this year is 2 days before the 5th anniversary. Emily lost all of her hair early in her treatment (Taxol does that) and NEVER wore a wig. Her bald head was her "white badge of courage." Her battle lasted only 7+ months, but she showed all of us how to live with adversity. Her death has left a big hole in the hearts of her family, and events like St. Baldrick's help us to keep her memory alive.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

It's all about the kids. Let's fund childhood cancer research to help kids grow up cancer-free. Get involved or make a donation today, and click a photo below to see why we need cures now.
