What’s better than shaving your head to support childhood cancer research?
Doing it together—as a team—with purpose, passion, and love.
Krista’s Crusaders is a dedicated team of head-shaving heroes who have come together every year since 2016 to raise money for childhood cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Our team is named in honor of Krista, a bright, joyful, and courageous girl who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2003 at just 7 years old. Over the course of nearly four years, Krista endured radiation, chemotherapy, countless hospital stays, hair loss, and all the painful challenges that cancer brings. But through it all, she never let go of her love for life, her family, her friends, and her faith in Jesus.
Krista’s fight ended when she was 11 years old—but her story didn’t. Her light continues to inspire us. Everyone who knew her was forever changed. Her memory is our mission.
A beautiful song was written and performed by a friend, inspired by stories of Krista’s life. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/ynXfRG5nRms
There’s also a new musical tribute with lyrics by Ethan Ashline and music by Bill Van Meter: Watch it here. https://youtu.be/lGv4XxDxWyM
We shave because we couldn’t save Krista.
We shave so other children might have the chance she didn’t.
We shave in hope. We shave in solidarity. We shave for a cure.
And this year—like the last three—we also shave in memory of our dear friend and teammate, Jesus Gallegos. Jesus was a devoted member of Krista’s Crusaders for six years. In June 2022, he passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a loving wife and daughter who feel his absence every single day. We miss him deeply and honor his legacy with every pass of the razor.
This is more than a fundraiser—it’s a movement of love, remembrance, and action.
So we ask: Will you support our team with a donation?
Your contribution fuels life-saving research through St. Baldrick’s, the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research. Every dollar brings us closer to the day when no parent loses a child to cancer.
Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for remembering Krista and Jesus. Thank you for giving kids hope.
