Our son Ryan leads the St. Baldrick's celebration at Boulder High School to raise money for childhood cancer. Every year, schools across the country have students, teachers, and friends volunteer to shave their heads to generate donations and connect with students who are going through treatment. While Saint Baldrick is not a recognized saint in the Catholic Church, the name is a mashup for St. Patrick's Day and the word bald and in 1999, the organization began working to both raise money for childhood cancer and bring humor to a difficult time for children who endure so much during chemotherapy.

To stand in solidarity with all people who have ever lost their hair battling cancer, we are BOTH shaving our heads on Thursday, March 17th, 4-6pm in the main gym at Boulder High School. Our goal is to raise money for childhood cancer research via the St. Baldrick's Foundation. We would like to acknowledge and honor our friends who are currently undergoing or have completed treatment: Heidi King, Christine O’Hara, and Sue Rodman. All three women are warriors in their fight against this disease.

And in closing, we want to honor the memories of our sister Vickie Jackson, uncles Carl Trump Sr./Bill Jenkins, and friends Anita Churches, Linda Bolen, and Joe Burtoni.

We are suggesting a donation of $10. We will appreciate any amount you can donate, no amount is too small or too large; we are thankful for your support.

Please share this with your friends and family too. And if you are not doing anything on March 17th, come watch us (or join us) at Boulder High as we join Ryan in his ongoing efforts to support Saint Baldricks.

Sincerely,

Rick and Jenny O'Block

*Rick and I will match all donations up to $2,000.

A candle is a small thing. But one candle can light another. And see how its own light increases, as its candle gives its flame to another. You are such a light.
