We are shaving our heads to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So we decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Join me! Shave or donate!

As all parents our world stopped last September when they found the tumor. When we were told what the pathology said we thought we were going to lose our G$. Our life changed forever. Our daughter, Gracin, was 7 and said she didn't want a new normal as we explained what was happening. Our community, church, family, baseball friends, and work rallied around us.

If you know Gavin you know his smile has never wavered. A kid that can get chemo in the morning and go play baseball that afternoon is truly a warrior. He never complained about missing school, going to appointments, or procedures. He just wanted to keep playing baseball.

The day he sent me, his mom, a picture of his hair falling out it broke my heart. It made it seem more real that this was happening to him. A simple picture of his white school paper with a few hairs on it made me weep. His team got together at Coach Lee's house soon after. Several kids, Tony, his father, and several dads shaved their heads to support him. Gavin wanted to wait till later, with little attention to shave his completely. He never complained about being bald. He hardly ever even wore a hat to cover.

As a mom I wanted to show support but never dreamed of shaving my head. Now it's been almost year. We found his Cancer during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. How unaware were we before? How so aware are we now! To honor our son the Lord placed it on my heart to shave my own head for him and all children who have fought this battle. I asked my husband and he whole- heartedly supported me. I now know will always make everyone aware of how special these children are and the battle they fight!

Gavin is amazing, loving, genuine, and of course G$Strong!
