Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’m joining thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
Did you know, 1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive? For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.
17 years ago, we ventured into St. Baldricks unaware of what this event would turn into in our lives. 17 years later, and we have raised $174,058. This year can see us surpassing the $180,000 threshold. I say we, because while I shave my head, it is this team's support that lifts us above our goal every year. To say I am grateful would vastly downplay how much I appreciate how wonderful each and everyone of you has been has been over the years.
Every year I say this, but I truly hope that our work and financial contribution will make these shave events obsolete one day. Until then, Here I am again, humbly begging for your support. This year, I would love to see our team surpass the $7,000 mark which would also lift us collectively above $180,000.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
