Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

Last year, a friend of mine shaved his head to raise money for childhood cancer research. During that conversation, someone suggested I should participate too. There was just one problem: I've kept my hair in a tight buzz cut for most of my life, so simply shaving my head wouldn't be much of a sacrifice.

That's when a challenge was born.

I was tasked with growing my hair out for an entire year without cutting it. And when I say without cutting it, I mean not even a trim.

So here we are, one year later. My hair is longer than it has ever been, and it's finally time to shave it all off.

Why? Because childhood cancer is still stealing far too many futures.

Did you know that 1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer in the United States will not survive? And for many who do, the long-term effects of treatment can be severe, with more than 96% facing serious or life-threatening health conditions by age 50.

Every shaved head, every trimmed lock of hair, and every dollar donated helps create a ripple effect of hope and progress for children battling cancer.
