Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?
I've been involved with St. Baldrick's since Miranda and I meet over 10 years ago. Going to the event is both fun and heartbreaking as I cannot imagine the pain some families have and are enduring. We've always tossed around the idea of shaving our heads and with this being the events 20th anniversary, the whole family (myself, Miranda, and the boys) decided to do it earlier this year.
That plan was solidified during our well visits in June when our pediatrician and good friend, Dr. Marcela Heinrich, shared that her granddaughter, Vivian Bowlin, was recently diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia) just a few days after her 4th birthday. We are doing this for her and all those like her. We've named our team Bowlin's Baldies in her honor.
Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.
Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
