Early in 2011 I purchased some new cloth diapers from a local mom. When I inquired as to why she was selling them, she explained that her infant daughter was unable to use cloth as she was currently hospitalized and undergoing treatment for Glioblastoma. (http://www.starringscarlett.com/p/about-scarlett.html).
After months of treatment she is fighting again. She and many others NEED our help.
Her story pulled tightly on my heartstrings (as it has for MANY others).
When our son was hospitalized last year (recovering from a serious/rare disease) we encountered childhood cancer again. We saw the children weary from treatment. We saw the parents as they navigated the halls which had become all too familiar. I thought of Scarlett and vowed to turn my worry into something more potent....awareness.
We left the PICU with our son healthy. He had recieved an antidote and was cured.
Imagine if we could do that for children with cancer.
As a mom to three young children, I'm prone to my fair share of worrying. It begins with them in the womb, then continues and evolves as they grow. Every parent dreads their child becoming one of the thousands diagnosed with Cancer.
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
