I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Rainbow

I’m spraying my hair green and shaving my head... Again for the 3rd year in a row!!! You heard it right.... I’ll spray paint my head bright neon green and then shave my head on March 14th, 2013 in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research! In the United States, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Thanks to the St. Baldrick's Foundation we are fighting back. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. This is a volunteer-driven charity, which keeps fundraising costs low and grants high. In 2012 alone, St. Baldrick’s granted more than $23 million for research – almost all raised by more than 31,000 “shavees” like me, from people like you! With continued cuts to federal cancer research, researchers rely on organizations such as St. Baldrick’s more and more. To help celebrate the 11th anniversary of Cleveland's participation in St. Baldrick's, we will be holding a special head-shaving event at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital on Thursday, March 14th 2013. Please help us honor of all the patients and families at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital who are fighting the fight of their lives! Please consider making a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure. Even a $1.00 donation makes a difference. Send a note to a friend and ask them to do the same and, together we can all make a difference. As a physician, I truly hope there will soon be a day when I will ALWAYS follow the sentence “Your child has cancer ” with the words “we have a cure. ” Thank you for making a difference in children’s lives worldwide! I know this is really short notice, so I’ll continue to collect donations even after I shave my head.
