My name is Kim, and I'm a former Duke PICU Nurse who is shaving my head in memory of my little buddy pictured below, Maddy Moo. Maddy spent the majority of her life fighting cancer and she's now sitting on Heaven's Beach with her toes wiggling in the sand. "I do not like the wind in my hair" Maddy used to say, then Cancer took her hair, her smile, and then her life. I don't like wind in my hair either Moo, and I dislike Childhood Cancer even more! So let's get rid of this hair and raise some money for Childhood Cancer Research.
I know the slogan of the event is: "Brave the Shave" But Maddy and her parents, Richelle & Joe, her big brother Ethan and every family facing childhood cancer have no choice but brave this fight for life. I'm not the brave one to shave my head. I'm honored and humbled to be part of the fight for the cure. Will you join me in memory of Moo?
I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
