I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research
This will be my 6th shaving. I am very passionate about helping children. As a teacher I never thought I would hold a child as they died as just their teacher. As a request from Leola I did not leave her side until the end. I know how her passing at an age where she was yet to fulfill her dreams tore a hole in my heart. I can not imagine how a parent feels. Years later in a Biology class Joey said Mr. D why you shaving your head, I don't get it. So I told him about Leola and how I never wanted another child not to see their tomorrow. That next year, Joey told me he had testicular cancer. He started his chemo it became to much with school. I checked on him every week. He told me he had surgery to make him a man again and all was good. The next week his cousin told me he passed.. I said no he was better, I was told he did not want me to worry about another one of my kids... he knew I loved them all like my own. I am an old retired teacher now, but my passion to shave just one child from cancer remains a personal goal for me. Donate. every dollar counts.
