I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: SMP vs. Cancer

I’M SHAVING MY HEAD!!!!!

As many of you know, not all cancers are created equal. Treatments for cancer are not only dependent on the types of cancer, but also on the age of those affected with cancers. Unfortunately, children who are plagued with cancer are affected by cancer treatment the most. The medications, although some have proved life-saving, can be toxic and affect child development later in life. Children survivors are SEVEN times more likely to die from heart complications post-treatment than non-cancer afflicted children.

Bill Gates once said “I believe in innovation and that the way you get innovation is you fund research and you learn the basic facts.” In an effort to mitigate these post-treatment issues and to develop more cures, I have teamed up with St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund pediatric cancer research. St. Baldricks is a charity and one of the most well-known private funders of childhood cancer research in the U.S and around the world.

I have made the personal goal of fundraising $3,000 from now up until April 13th. If (and when) I reach my goal, I have vowed to shave my head in solidarity with the many individuals that lose their hair due to cancer treatment. I am asking my family, friends, and colleagues to help me in this journey by donating ANY amount to help me reach my goal and to support the research for MORE and BETTER pediatric cancer cures!
