Once again, I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. This marks my third year fundraising for St. Baldrick’s and shaving my head in solidarity with those kids and families impacted by cancer.
This organization is truly all-encompassing as they attack cancer with a 360-degree approach. The money raised through this event goes towards supporting R&D, lowering the cost of current treatments, supporting families and patients fighting today, and helping those survivors stay cancer free for the rest of their lives. Every year we meet current fighters, survivors and the families of those who fought valiantly but have risen to another place. Their stories all have the same theme: they want to have the same opportunities and experiences as those of other, healthy kids. Some want to learn to ride a bike, swim or ice skate. Some want to be able to learn to drive or go to college.
I, like many of you, had a fairly healthy childhood and it never crossed my mind that those opportunities and milestones may be in question. For these children and their families, those opportunities are anything but certain. With your help, we can grow the probability that they see those moments and beyond. We can help ensure that this generation of children has a better shot than the last.
Thank you for your consideration and possible contribution. As a final note, if you cannot donate, please pass this note along. Please encourage those in your own lives to donate their time and their thoughts to these causes. Money helps drive science and pays bills but volunteering at your local children’s hospital or dropping off a few stuffed toys is an act without a price.
Thank you for your time,
Cheers!
