Am I actually going to do this? Why yes I am!
Ok, we all know I'm a little crazy. So it should come as little surprise to most of you that I'm going to participate in the St. Baldrick's event at Sidetrax in Galesburg on March 3rd. I have had long hair, short hair, curly hair, straight hair, symmetrical hair, asymmetrical hair, and about every color of hair you can imagine (including blonde at one time). I’ve also shaved my head once before at a St. Baldrick’s event. Bald as a cue ball. Well, a cueball with peachfuzz that is. It grows back, no worries. And I found out I don’t have a lumpy head, so there is that.
I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures.
Why am I doing this though? I’m doing this because pediatric cancer is just stupidly evil. And there is a young man named Trevor in my family that is going through his third round with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. He was first diagnosed with stage 4 when he was only three years old. Trevor is now 7. He has been in remission a couple of times. This time, the cancer is in a very dangerous spot and cannot be radiated. He’s only seven years old and has been through so much in his life already. He, and kids like him, need to be able to grow and be kids without the specter and spectacle that cancer can be. I am also doing this because I know of children who have beaten cancer. But they have not done it alone. Community, family, research, fundraising. It really does take a village to help these kids and their families.
Check out my page and make a donation today! No donation is ever too small to help out this great cause. Please and thank you!
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
