I’m shaving my head to raise awareness and to honor my handsome boy, my sweet angel Patrick
Patrick Daley was such a funny lovable kid. He was a lover of Minecraft, Lego and the ladies. He would walk up to a group of girls and say “Helllooooo ladies”. He had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up the room.
Patrick's journey with DIPG started in December 2015 when Patrick would have angry outbursts, lose his balance and his speech was barely understandable. We all knew something was wrong with him because he wasn’t acting like his sweet, normal, lovable self. This behavior lasted for a few months until that fateful night in May 2016 when our world would come tumbling down we took him to the ER and for the first time heard the news he has a tumor on his brain. It wasn’t until a few days later children’s hospital confirmed it was DIPG. The worst of the worst type of brain tumor.
Patrick’s journey would lasted 6 months from the day of diagnosis. He had 6 weeks of radiation to shrink the tumor in June that allowed us to have what is called a honeymoon stage where it seemed like our life was getting back to normal for the next 2 months. Typical of DIPG, the tumor started growing back with a vengeance in October causing Patrick to lose his ability to use his right side but that didn’t stop him from living. He would use a cane instead of a wheelchair to gain some sort of independence. Unfortunately his fight with this evil tumor came to an end November 30 2016. Patrick fought with such grace and dignity, never complaining, always had a joke to tell and a hug to give. Patrick's legacy will continue to live on.
Thank you so much for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
