I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Lemont Fire's Team Rockstar

Friends, family, loved ones...

In 2017, I swore I wouldn't shave my head again in 2018. SWORE I wouldn't. But time has a way of shape-shifting perspective. While I hate to be "that guy", hitting up friends & family members for donations for the third consecutive year, do you know what I hate much, much, MUCH more? The absolute monster that is childhood cancer.

For those of you who don't know me personally, I'm a fire wife (DGFD L3234) & a mom of five amazing children, one of whom is a Shaken Baby Syndrome Survivor. Due to her medically fragile condition, we tend to be "frequent flyers" at our local children's hospital and we've seen these unspeakably brave fighters firsthand, enduring things no child should *ever* have to endure.

That being said, I'm shaving my head for the THIRD consecutive year to raise money for childhood cancer research. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is *extremely* underfunded (only 4% of federal government cancer research funding goes to children--FOUR PERCENT). Ugh. Four percent, you guys. I mean...only four percent? My heart can't reconcile that amount. It just can't.

Now I need your help! Will you please make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. My goal is $3,550.00 this year: that would bring me to a solid $10,000 raised for St. Baldrick’s in a mere three years. So...yeah. $3,550.00! Is that outrageous? Possibly. Is it achievable? I certainly hope so. I know it's an incredibly lofty goal, but I also know all of you & the beautiful hearts you have. Please consider donating, and please spread the word...

With my love & gratitude to all,

Courtney
