Hey guys,
This year I've decided to take part as a shavee in the annual St. Baldrick's event.
St. Baldrick's is an organisation dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research. I will be shaving my head on March 16th in honor of all the children who are suffering through intense treatment for cancer.
Childhood cancer is a huge problem today as we have lost more children to cancer than any other disease in the world. Childhood cancer is taking more and more lives as you read this. Every 2 minutes, a child is diagnosed with childhood cancer. Aside from raising money for childhood cancer research, St. Baldrick's also funds research on preventing long term conditions after enduring treatments since 95% of the already small amount of childhood cancer survivors will have a chronic health condition.
On a personal level, I'm grateful that my knees are almost back to normal with ongoing doctor follow ups. Just as I almost forgot the pain and suffering, a Facebook news about my childhood friend Hedda at Morristown NJ has touched my heart - she was diagnosed paediatric brain cancer and has endured 55 weeks of gruelling chemotherapy and other treatments. Like the rest of my hometown, I'm inspired by her fearlessness and tied my turquoise ribbon for her in Hong Kong. Now I want to do more for all the children like Hedda - raising funds for research to find cure for them!
Words could not describe how much I would appreciate it if you choose to donate. And you've probably seen from some of my other friend's posts but I can't emphasise enough: Every dollar counts.
Thank you all who took the time to read this. I hope this will inspire you to contribute to the cause. If you were like me, and didn't participate because you didn't want to shave your head, please, donate and allow me to be your way of donating to this cause.
