I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Alameda PD

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

One of our police family members has been affected by childhood cancer. Lucas Foster was diagnosed with a pineal region germanium in September of 2015. He was experiencing headaches at the time, and a scan revealed a tumor in his brain. Obviously, this was the last thing that he and his family expected to be the source of his headaches. He underwent emergency brain surgery, followed by four rounds of chemo, and several additional rounds of radiation therapy. Throughout his battle he maintained a positive attitude, and often seemed to be in better spirits about his situation than the members of his family that weren't fighting cancer. His tumor is gone, but the battle continues as he receives scans and checks to make sure it stays gone. He plans to become a doctor when he grows up so he can someday help kids like him. I raise money with Lucas in mind, hoping to give back so that other kids can receive excellent treatment like he did.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
